Winners of Our Second Annual Right Choice Award
Congratulations to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford, OH for winning first prize in our second annual Right Choice Award competition.
McCullough-Hyde has benefited in many ways due to the addition of the Dietary Food Management POS system. Prior to implementing the new system, they had a register
that was nearly 15 years old. It would stop working in the middle of a transaction and frustrate not only the staff, but customers as well. They had to save receipts for charges and manually add them at the end of each month. It was tedious and very time consuming. In addition, they had no way of documenting department charges other then with paper and pencil. They needed a system that would be fast, efficient and user friendly. Since they are a small hospital, they had a hard time finding a good fit. The DFM Point of Sale was just what they were looking for. From behind the scenes, it was easy to program, items can be added in a matter of seconds. Price changes of an item can be done in no time. The staff absolutely loves it. They like the touch screen and the ability to run their own reports at the end of their shift. Monthly reports print in a matter of minutes. No more adding up little receipts for the month.
Our 2nd Prize goes to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, SC. Their gift shop is a small area in the main lobby and is managed and
staffed by Auxiliary volunteers. Auxiliary is a 501-C-3 charity and all proceeds from the shop are dedicated to the Auxiliary scholarship program. They are very proud that they currently are assisting 27 students in medically related careers, and last year the total was $93,000 given to various colleges and schools. The majority of this money was from gift shop sales. Most recipients are employees or family members at Grand Strand RMC. Since they have been a part of the DFM family, the shop proceeds have more than doubled - thus enabling them to assist more students. The employees love being able to use payroll deduction and it is an easy means of making additional sales. The Auxiliary does not have many fund-raising efforts (2 small jewelry sales annually) so the main source of income is from the shop. They are thankful that DFM provided a means for them to assist others in their medical careers.
